Traditionally, the domain of Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSC) addresses the challenges of productivity, quality and cost reduction apart from "uncertainities and variability". In recent times, the practitioners and researchers are focusing more on developing "green products", utilising "green processes", and developing strategies for "reverse supply chain". Later, it was realized that being "environmental friendly" is not sufficient, rather the OSC should cater to "triple bottom line" of an organisation - by demonstrating economical, environmental and societal development. In the last 5 years, with the phenomenal growth in the field of robotics, information and communication technologies, OSC began to utilise "smart automation", "near-field communication" and "internet of things (IoT)" leading to another phase of revolution called Industry 4.0. This provided researchers newer opportunities as well as newer challenges. It is in this context, the XXII Annual International Conference of Society of Operations Management (SOM 2018) attempts to bring in the academicians and practitioners to jointly discuss and deliberate through their plenary talks and paper presentations on the theme Operations and Supply Chain Management at Cross Roads: challenges of Big Data, Industry 4.0, Sustainability and Global Uncertainty.
The conference invites research papers, articles and case studies from the authors for presentation. For making an oral presentation the authors may submit only an abstract. However, for inclusion in the electronic proceedings, the authors must submit an extended abstract (manuscript). The Submissions guidelines for the abstract as well as the extended abstract are available in the conference website. The manuscripts will be peer reviewed by a committee of experts before acceptance. Suggested topics (but not limited to) for the conference include the following:
The conference will also host a doctoral consortium on December 20, 2018. The consortium aims at giving doctoral students an opportunity to interact with their peers. A doctoral student can participate or present their research specially in the consortium by submitting an abstract of their presentation. Students are requested to refer to the author guidelines for preparation of abstract.
